A man suspected of driving under the influence in Waco, Texas, apparently almost succeeded where the Big Bad Wolf had failed.

The “Three Little Pigs” house gained fame on the HGTV series, “Fixer Upper.” The season three, episode 12 edition featured the “fixer-uppers” Chip and Joanna Gaines upgrading the existing home with dark wood accents, a porch, and other improvements. The remodeled dwelling was said to be custom-made for a neighborhood described as “quaint.”

A second remodeling of a different type occurred when a drunk driver almost “blew the house down” with his car on a late Saturday night. His vehicular “huffing and puffing” ended up destroying part of the porch and the entire front room.

Ken and Kelly Downs, the owners of the dwelling, were fast asleep in an interior room when the crash occurred. Thankfully, the couple emerged from the collision unscathed. What saved them from injury was straight out of the age-old, porcine trio tale: brick from the fireplace moved from the front office by the Gaines.

Upon arriving at the home, police and firefighters found Allen Wayne Miller behind the wheel of a Hyundai Accent wedged inside the house. Miller tried to escape only to be detained by firefighters. The police subsequently arrested him on charges of driving while intoxicated.

The house seems to be the least of the Downs’ problems. Since day one of their move, the neighborhood has been anything but quaint. Kelly refers to it as the “Wild West” with daily commotion from area bars and a store across the street.

The only saving grace? Their “Big Bad Wolf” is in custody.
